On Air Legendary trucking broadcaster, Dave Nemo, hosts The Road Ahead for Volvo Trucks

Dave Nemo has been a trusted voice to drivers across the country for more than 50 years. He was part of the pioneering “Road Gang” show with Charlie Douglas, broadcast overnight from WWL in New Orleans and dedicated to keeping over-the-road truckers company during their haul. Today, Nemo hosts mornings coast-to-coast via satellite on Sirius/XM Radio’s Road Dog channel, where he’s been since 2002. Since his move to the satellite network, Nemo and Volvo Trucks have worked together on numerous projects. In 2022 the partnership expands, as Nemo hosts conversations with Volvo Trucks on air twice a month.

“Since my introduction to trucking through radio with Charlie Douglas in the early ‘70s, our approach has always been about the driver,” says Nemo. “When I met the folks at Volvo many years ago, it was clear that they had the same idea. Sure, the trucks are awesome but it’s the human element that makes the difference. Our listeners hear that commitment to the driver on our new interview series, The Road Ahead.”

On the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, Nemo goes in depth with different members of Volvo Trucks’ product marketing team to talk about innovations and new technology in areas like Safety, Fuel Efficiency, and Connectivity.

"“We feel like Dave’s show is a perfect way to have a real conversation with drivers about the breakthroughs that are making their jobs better and safer."

“We reach drivers when they have time to listen. The longer interview format allows us to go in depth on these topics and technologies that are going to be crucial in our industry.”

Nemo says The Road Ahead is important for his listeners, “The world of trucking and technology is moving ahead at the speed of light, and I know that Volvo has been on the cutting edge of trucking technology from the beginning. Listeners not as familiar with them or some of these new technologies will hopefully learn a lot.”

Shows can be heard live on Sirius/XM the Tuesday they air and during rebroadcasts on Saturday mornings. Links to the interviews are also available online at volvotrucks.us.
